Wireless Connectivity
Lab Handout
Objective
Use Packet Tracer to complete the following
skills
·
Add and configure devices to
the network
·
Setup a wireless access point.
·
Configure the two computers and
printer to use wireless connections.
Scenario
This topology represents the simplest network,
ideal for studying device configuration and wireless connectivity.
Required Files
To complete this lab, you will need the
following Packet Tracer Activity (.pka) files.
·
CCNA1_Lab5.1.8_Wireless.pka
Plan:
Familiarize yourself with PT 4.0 help menu, in
case you have questions.
Act 1: Adding and configuring network devices
·
Open the “CCNA1_Lab5.1.8_Wireless.pka” file and follow the Instructions, which are repeated here:
Step 1
Add a server,
a printer, a wireless access point, and two generic PCs.
Step 2
Remove the Ethernet modules and add wireless modules for the
2 PCs and the printer. Make sure to
power off the devices before removing the modules and power on the devices once
the wireless modules have been added.
Power off PC0, remove the existing Ethernet
interface first (it is at the bottom of the physical diagram) by dragging it up
and to the left to the list of interfaces. You then can drag the wireless
interface into its place. The wireless interface
is PT-HOST-NW-1W, power on PC0. Repeat
these steps for PC1 and Printer0.
Step 3
Connect the server to the wireless access point using a
cross-over cable.
Step 4
Change the name of PC0 to Workstation, PC1 to Laptop,
Server0 to Server, and Printer 0 to Printer.
Use the Config tab to change the names of the
devices.
Step 5
Configure the devices with the following
addresses:
Workstation – IP Address 192.168.1.1/24
Laptop – IP Address 192.168.1.2/24
Server – IP Address 192.168.1.3/24
Printer – IP Address 192.168.1.4/24
Step 6
Verify
connectivity. From Workstation use the PING command
to test connectivity to Lapton.
