Packet Tracer 4.0 Hubs and Switches Lab
Handout
Objective
Use Packet Tracer to complete the following
skills
·
Add and configure devices to
the network
·
Configure PC’s to communicate
on the network
Scenario
This exercise is design to provide hands-on practice
connecting and configuring basic network devices. The end result will provide a
simple network in which all 8 PCs can communicate to each other.
Required Files
To complete this lab, you will need the
following Packet Tracer Activity (.pka) files.
·
CCNA1_5.1.5-5.1.7 Hubs and Switches.pka
Plan:
Familiarize yourself with PT 4.0 help menu, in
case you have questions. Open the
“CCNA1_5.1.5-5.1.7 Hubs and Switches.pka” file and follow the Instructions,
which are repeated here:
Step 1
Add 8
PCs to the network.
Step 2
Add 2 Hubs and 1 Switch to the network.
Step 3
Connect the first 4 PCs to one hub and the other 4 PCs to
the other hub. Connect the two hubs to the switch.
Hint: Ensure you use the proper cable (i.e.
straight-through or cross-over) for each connection
Step 4
Configure each PC with and IP address. The addresses should
be 192.168.1.X, where X is 1-8. For example PC0 would have the IP address
192.168.1.1 and PC1 would have the IP address 192.168.1.2.
